The Building Process

Initial Meeting: Meet the Castlestone homebuilding team to discuss your objectives and establish a comfortable relationship.

  • What is important to you in a new home?
  • Where do you want to live?
  • What type of home do you need/want?
  • What features are important to you?
  • What is your budget?

Site Selection: We conduct ongoing and extensive land research throughout the Charlotte area and surrounding counties. If you do not have a piece of property to build on we can help you find the perfect homesite for your new Castlestone Home. Other choices include building on one of our homesites or on your own land. > Looking for a Lot

Home Plan: You may already have the perfect home plan selected which we would be glad to build for you, but if not, you may select from our portfolio of plans, or work with us to design the perfect plan for you. We have strong professional relationships with several local designers and architects who will work with us to design your home and make it a reality.

Taking Care of the Paperwork: Complete purchase agreement and agree to specifications and budget.

Loan Approval: A construction to permanent loan is in place with a lender. A commitment letter has been reviewed by Castlestone Homes. > Our Preferred Lenders

Making Selections: All selections for the home should be made at the beginning of the process starting with the exterior such as brick, siding, shingles, windows, doors, and trim materials. This is followed by Interior selections such as flooring, cabinets, countertops, plumbing fixtures, door hardware, and lighting.

Pre-Construction Meeting: Review all paperwork and selections to make sure everything is in order and all expectations have been discussed. Orient the home on the lot and discuss any issues regarding drainage, foundation, drive location and general conditions of the piece of property.

Ground Breaking: The footprint of the home is staked, the footings are dug, and the concrete is poured.

Foundation: A strong foundation is the key to a well built home. Castlestone Homes builds a continuous 8” thick concrete block foundation on crawlspaces. > More Info

Framing & Dry-In: The roof, shingles, windows and doors are installed making your home more protected from the elements. > More Info

Exterior Finishes: Brick, stone, siding and trim are installed.

Interior Roughs: Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC are “roughed-in” prior to the installation of insulation and drywall.

Pre-Drywall Meeting: Before any drywall is installed it is important to review all options and double check electrical and plumbing locations – if anything needs to be moved now is the time.

Interior Finishes: Hardwood floors, ceramic tile, cabinets and countertops are installed. Walls, trim and ceilings are painted. Lights and appliances are installed. > More Info

Final Grade & Landscaping: The flatwork (drives, sidewalks, and porch floors) are poured, the final grade is established, and landscaping is installed.

Presentation of Completed Home and Orientation: We inspect the home when finished for completeness and cleanliness. Afterwards, we are ready to present your Castlestone Home to you and show you how everything works.

Closing: Meet at attorney’s office to complete the legal transaction, receive title and establish permanent financing on your home.

Move In: Congratulations from Castlestone Homes. Thank you for trusting us and allowing us to create your new home. May you have much enjoyment in your new home for many years.
